Facts about a Student’s Diet

The most important thing in a student’s life is to have a good diet. A good diet is necessary to shine in studies. It gives the strength to withstand the pressure and competition. Students of different age groups require different dietary plans. There is a Food Pyramid which specifies the quantity of food that each age group must consume. Lots of children diet these days because they are crazy about fashion. This must be prevented because having a size-zero body is not healthy and may result in number of complications. They may also develop an eating disorder called anorexia and hence children with size-zero attitudes must be discouraged. Many of the children’s’ habits are created when they are 6-12 years. This is the time that the children must be educated on healthy eating. It may be difficult to avoid junk foods but it is better to reduce their intake. School canteens should abstain from selling such junk foods and concentrate on healthy food. This will surely discourage students liking towards junk foods. Parents must avoid bribing children with food items as this may lead to obesity. A good diet does not make the student obese or cause any health problems but makes one healthy and strong!

Sleep Deprivation and its Effects

Sleep is an important activity but how many of us realize it? We try escaping it and feel we have achieved a lot! But the reality is that we have lost a few hours of good health when we are awake during the night. The most common owls are students. I wondered whether it was their assignments which kept them awake. But I realized it was not only their assignments but lots more that kept them awake all night. On an average, every student requires about 9 hours of sleep. But these days’ students are busy with assignments, parties, phone calls, friends, movies and so much more during the nights that they do not have time to sleep. When one is young, this may not have any effect but when one grows old, it will cause irreparable loss to health leading to many health complications. What are the benefits of sleep? Do you think it only removes tiredness? It performs memory processing, wound healing, anabolic and catabolic reactions. This way sleep performs a number of important activities without our knowledge. Students need enough sleep because this will increase their concentration and helps them to gain better focus. It is a proven fact that lack of good sleep will affect the student’s grades. Now which student would want his grades to be affected?!

Student Problems

All face problems in today’s world, including students. There may be a number of problems but they need to be addressed. A teacher is the right person to identify these problems and help them out. A student may be facing some family problems which might affect the student’s performance in academics. A teacher must try enquiring with the student and know the reason for bad performance without punishing. This will increase the student’s trust, and hence will build a good rapport. The other problems faced by students include bullying and teasing. These may look like a simple problem to adults but the students get highly affected due to this. In addition to these, a student may also have some medical problems like learning disability, physical disability, difficulty in recognizing the phonics, difficulty in recognizing print and so on. These are some of the common problems. In addition to it, foreign students may experience language and cultural barriers. They can be overcome by providing some ice breaking sessions to foreign students. Some other problems faced are home sickness and the body will not accept the climate changes. This will take time to settle and after that everything will be alright. So there may be a number of problems but they can be solved easily with little help!
