Dyslexia is a learning disability. This is what everyone would answer when questioned on what does dyslexia mean. But there is more that one needs to know. This article aims to educate the readers more about dyslexia. Children suffering from dyslexia can tell everything orally but their written and reading skills are very bad. The common indicators of dyslexia are that the student reverses the letters, having difficulty with directions, difficulty in solving puzzles. There are many tests which can determine if a child is dyslexic or not. These teats include diagnostic tests, visual perception tests, written tests and so on. Generally children will have an IQ above the average levels but a discrepancy between their IQ and achievements will be noticed. This will clearly indicate that the child is suffering from dyslexia. Dyslexia is very common and there are many personalities who have been dyslexic. The list includes Michaelangelo, Rodin, Einstein, Edison, President Roosevelt, Tom Cruise and so on. It is possible that with little help, dyslexic children can reach great heights. They need care and lot of support. Dyslexia is not the end of life but it just means there is a new meaning to life. Be sensitive to dyslexic children, they need our support and care.

Suicide is very common among students. The reasons vary from failure in exams to failure in relationships. It is clear that students are not able to handle the pressure of being labeled unsuccessful. But what does unsuccessful mean? Does it mean, we have reached the end of life or does it mean there is another option which is being overseen? I would go by the latter answer. Let us take the example of Lance Armstrong, the biker who has won many hearts. He was affected by cancer and he had two options, to consider he was dead or to build a new life. He chose the latter and the rest is history! There must be counseling as a part of the education system; this will help build the morale of students. They must be taken to field trips, made to realize the harsh realties of life. It is better to be knowledgeable about life than be ignorant. The main reason why students can never accept failure is that they are ignorant about it and do not know how to face it. Education must not only teach them the alphabet but also the realities and how to handle them. It must make a person stronger and he must be able to accept failure with a smile. The true meaning of education is realized when the person arises from the grave of failure to reach great heights in life!
